- An immobiliser or immobilizer is an electronic device fitted to an automobile which prevents the engine from running unless the correct key (or other token) is present. This prevents the car from being “hot wired” after entry has been achieved.

This is the inner workings, electronics and solenoids, for my new improved letterbox. What you can see here is the immobiliser, with remote, hooked in to the central locking control module, which drives the door lock solenoid.
I still have to remove a lot of unrequired wires, and replace the two big batteries with some other power supply…
